small town theater

November 22, 2014

found it clean on the few occasions i have been there.....seats are not the most comfortable...sound can be very loud at times and you can hear the noise from the other theater next to you.............i never eat at the shows because of the prices.......i can get coupons for Landmark theaters in Kanata for 28.00 this is for two admissions 2 pop and 2 popcorn.....at Costco.......so for a small town this is not so bad......

Why Monopolies are bad

October 26, 2013

This is the only theatre in town and with the exception of the one screen on Garrison Petawawa, you need to drive to Kanata-Ottawa to see a show if you're going to go elsewhere. As such, I think they have a take it or leave it attitude there, knowing they have you. The woman who has manned the ticket booth on both occasions we dared to darken the front of it, was rude and confrontational with customers and staff alike. I think she went to the Chairman Mao School of Business and failed Customer Service 101. Cleanliness is passable, concession is manned by teen girls, as per the norm for the industry, and if not surly, they are perky - usual service for a theatre. Bathrooms as usual for theatres - too many users, not enough cleaning. Bottomline: I don't go there because I want to, but rather, I really have no choice if I don't want to drive for 3 hours

Time for a change

December 29, 2016

I have been going to this theater on and off for over 30 years by myself and with my children and all I can say is that "its done its time" I have read some reviews below about how its a great small town business etc etc but that's like saying your 15 inch black and white TV is still a great model and still has a picture. We live in a time where movies are being made to be shown on big screens, comfortable stadium seating and full digital sound. I paid almost $12 for a movie and forget about the non existent selection at the concession. Staff were so-so friendly and I believe staying at home and watching the movie on my large HD television is a better experience. No excuse for this to be the only game in town when just down the road in Kanata are the silver Screen Theaters.

Poor Seats

February 02, 2017

The seating set up is not the best. The theater is not on enough of a slope and the seats are not staggered enough so if someone taller sits in front of you there goes your view ! Also the seats themselves are not very comfortable. The cost is high for a poor experience.

Disappointing

May 17, 2018

Overpriced, Screen while watching the movie was so dark I could barely see what was going on. The audio was poor as well.

only option

November 03, 2017

This is the only theatre in Pembroke. It's small, dated and over priced. Bathrooms are old and grose. If your looking to dry your hands after washing be prepared to miss half the movie because the only dryer in the bathroom is so old it barely blows any air. I'd rather drive to Kanata to see a movie - cheaper admission and cheaper concession plus an overall better experience. Common Algonquin Cinemas. You need to get with the times and step it up!

Bad, really bad BUT the only one in town...

December 15, 2017

One of the worst I have ever gone to but it is the only one in town (over 1 hour drive for the next one; DO IT).

Not the best popcorn in town!

June 23, 2014

Irregular temperature settings. Not the cleanest. And they do not show the best grossing movies right away... Plus the overall cost to go and see a movie there! Lack of theatre options in the area for sure. It's a "dive" movie theatre. Could definitely benefit from some improvements and TLC.

Reason for high prices

January 15, 2015

If you people knew what the owners of this theatre Paid for rent, you would understand why they charge What they do. Rents in that mall are astronomical . Believe me.

Only Place To Go

August 03, 2014

Yeah, like many others have stated... this is about it for Pembroke. Ridiculous pricing for what you get. I was in downtown Mattawa and they had a similar sized theatre that only charged $6 per ticket. Clearly the owners here are running this business to make money, not because they enjoy film. The concession prices are wack and a bag of candy I can get at Dollarama in the same mall will cost me 4.50 at the concession booth. Drink prices are ridiculous too. The entire place looks run down and the owners clearly feel no need to upgrade anything. It was promising when they converted to digital at first but they have clearly dimmed their bulbs to save money recently. I saw Guardians of The Galaxy opening night and it was one of the darkest movies I've seen yet. In an AMC style theatre the presentation would be vivid and bright. They also leave garbage all over the seats and floor. I've been in the theatre before and noticed that they had not cleaned in a very long time (Popcorn and sticky syrupy mess on the ground). The seats are uncomfortable and many of the armrests are busted and fall apart when you put your arm down, thus moving the attendees drink holder behind you. Unlike others I've never really had issues with the Ticket takers (Apart from the fact that they just want your money and show absolutely no compassion). Lastly, like others have said.... It's too loud and the temperatures are really wacky. I've been in this theatre before and felt the need to use my spring coat as a blanket because it was so damn cold. You can also hear whatever movie is playing next door which makes for a very irritable experience. Step up your game or lower your price, no one should have to pay 11.50 to see a movie like this.
