going down hill fast

May 11, 2014

It has been a few months since I was in this theatre. Stalls in the bathroom don't work or have pieces of porcelain broke off. Most of the arcade machines have something wrong with them. The place is generally dirty and the staff unhelpful. Cineplex has let this one go downhill quick.

Blown speakers

December 04, 2013

I have been in a few different theatres now and at least 2 have blown speakers. Every time there is an explosion or anything loud at all you hear a crackling noise. It's very annoying!

Empire > Cineplex

December 28, 2013

This cineplex takeover has been nothing but bad news. They hiked the prices way up, it cost me and 2 other friends $75 to go to the movies. Disgusting.

Here's hoping they shape up

January 07, 2014

Website is much harder to use than Empire's was, the sound was cranked so loud the speakers can no longer handle it, causing the sound to become distorted and the floor had about an inch of sludge on it when I walked in from spilled drinks. At least all of the staff were nice and easy to talk to, so it wasn't all bad.

A 2007 experience with 2017 prices.

June 07, 2017

I had not watched a film at this location in over a decade and was disappointed to see that in all of that time, nothing had changed but the prices. No Timeplay functionality, limited and non-preferred seating, old technology showcasing modern films at modern prices. It would be nice to see a new location that can compete with others. I'd rather drive to Saint John to get the experience that I'm paying for.

Built in the mid 90’s, it is time for a much needed update!

October 10, 2018

I can remember when Empire Theatres closed its two double theatres on Smyth St and Main St in favour of the 10 theatre setup at Regent Mall. It was revolutionary to have 10 different movies to choose from. Then, in 1998, I moved to Montreal and was introduced to the modern movie viewing experience at the Easton Centre and Cinema Guzzo. My mind was blown away by the stadium seating and the large semi reclining seats. It took movie viewing to a whole new level. That folks, was 20 years ago, and Regent Mall Cineplex has not changed. It has to be one of the last standing old school theatres in the country. With its small, cramped seating, sticky floors, poor sound systems and delapitated bathrooms it is a beacon for a town that has little in the way of entertainment compared to most cities. Please Cineplex, bring us into the modern era.

Terribly outdated and in desperate need of renovations or be replaced!

September 20, 2016

As the capital city, I am rather embarrassed over our one and only theatre. It is very outdated, the seats are old, uncomfortable and they literally stink (I cringe thinking of what is on/in these seats!) the washrooms are also old and in desperate need of being repaired. Moncton has two gorgeous and newly renovated theatres. We need the same (at least one!) I try to wait until I make it to Moncton to see movies on the big screen and avoid this one at all costs!

In bad need of updating

September 25, 2015

This theatre has needed renovations for over a decade. Take your wife to the movie for $30 and what do you get for quality? Ticket printing machines that either are down half the time or freeze while printing your tickets. The kids work the concessions are usually friendly enough but concession prices are ludicrous but you don't go to the movies for cheap popcorn. The sound quality is terrible, saw a movie last night and the speakers on the left had side had static the whole time. The first seat I sat in had the armrest cover missing, the second seat had a broken hinge so it sat lower on one side on the other. The third seat was tolerable but this just shows that this poor movie theatre hasn't had a dime spent on renovations to improve the customer experience for decades. I'd gladly pay 30 bucks if every theatre had stadium style seating and updated more comfortable chairs. But then again it's the only theatre in Fredericton so it's not like we have a lot of choice.

Embarrassing, Disappointing.

October 05, 2017

The theater hasn't been upgraded for over 10 years. Terrible old, uncomfortable, sticky seating. Some of the seats are broken and the screen and projector tech is the bare minimum to show the movie. No upgrades to the movie experience anywhere. Don't go to the concession unless you don't mind paying $15 for a small popcorn with oily yellow stuff and a regular sized drink. Oh you're not a scene member? Well you get to pay 20% more for everything. And they wonder why noone is going to the movies anymore?

Recently moved from Moncton and really disappointed in the old, shabby, small, poor audio, uncomfortable theatres!
