Love-hate relationship

May 29, 2015

Contrary to some other reviews, the one thing I do love is the reserved seating. This way I don't have to worry about getting to the theater only to find out the only seats left are terrible; or not being able to sit with my friends because there aren't enough empty seats together. Things I hate include the extremely loud sound; having to endure TV commercials during the pre-show after having paid so much to see a movie; the constant understaffing and resulting long lineups; the crazy expensive prices for snacks; and the TimePlay app that has never worked for me.

Nothing was working for us.

May 02, 2014

We attempted to purchase tickets at two different machines, as we did not want to stand in the long concession line.. both machines failed :( so we had to pick up our tickets at concession. Pain in the butt... got a RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE pop out of on of the vending machine and it did not give me change. $4.25 for a pop I can get at the dollar store next door for $1.00 is bad enough I sure as heck am not going to pay $10.00. We did get our tickets, the staff did bring my change to me in the Theater because I did not want to miss half the movie. But the whole experience was stressful, and left me feeling frustrated. Now I will really only bother spending the time and money for movies that are really, really worth it... so I doubt you will be seeing much of me. The staff was friendly enough but that does not make up for the not such great atmosphere and the over the top pricing. I don't think any "movie theater experience" is worth it.

Great place to see "stale" movies...and wait forever for new ones!

January 09, 2018

Takes forever to get movies here that opened weeks before in other cities. By the time the delayed movies arrive, trailers are no longer on tv so you tend to forget about the movie you wanted to watch after all that time...so you miss it. I stopped by recently and while I was talking nicely to a female employee about it, some unfriendly woman who may have been a manager happened by and said something I thought was a bit snippy to me for even asking about why movies take too long to come. I guess that explains a few things if she is at the helm here. This movie theater is a disappointment to many I'm sure, and with nowhere else to go, there is little choice but to wait till the movie is on ppv.

I cringe at the thought of going to the theatre now

July 24, 2014

I'm surprised the new owners are such a large chain. The website is painful and a LARGE step backwards compared to what it was prior to the purchase.

Movies what movies!

February 03, 2015

Since cineplex took control of the theatres, we have seen so many new problems arise such as: lack of cleaniless, customer service, a non-user friendly website but our biggest complaint is with the outside of the building. At the corner of McAllister Drive & Westmorland Rd there is a huge free standing sign that use to display the movies playing, now theres nothing. On the building itself there was 2 areas that use to display the movie titles, now nothing. It makes alot of sense to display this information for persons passing by. I know we would see something on the signs and it would entice us to go to the movies. Something we may not have planned on doing. Why do you want to hide what movies you are playing?

Holy not ok for a baby

March 15, 2016

Who picks the stars and strollers movies I'm pretty sure babys shouldn't be watching murder and child abuse movies ..pick movies that are somewhat ok for a babys yes parents are watching but geeze I couldn't bring my baby ... not to mention what's the point in having seat selection if you can't use it because most of the time you don't have things out

Too loud!

January 12, 2016

Sound is much too loud. Food ridiculously expensive. Movie titles no longer displayed on marquee. Overall, a sub par theatre.

Tons of Room for Improvement

November 17, 2014

There is absolutely no "pride in the workplace" at SJ Cineplex. Line ups are slow, establishment is very dirty, and the early pay booth are usually not working properly or out of order. I will not bring my family there, unless it's something out of this world and they have to see, then we just grin and bear it. Maybe some employees and management who are not children may help.
