Jennifer Aniston struggled in the early ’90s to make it as a television star, and briefly considered giving up acting after participating in one too many cancelled shows. Then Friends came her way, and Aniston became a television sweetheart: she won an Emmy, a Screen Actor’s Guild Award and a Golden Globe, and played the iconic role of Rachel for a decade.
She then dabbled with roles on big screen, and found silver-screen success with The Object of My Affection (1998) and Office Space (1999). Her next accomplishment was to land Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt. The two were married in 2000, but split in 2005 amid rumours of Pitt’s infidelity with Angelina Jolie.
Having to go through the breakup in public wasn’t something Aniston wanted. “I wish it weren’t in front of the world. I try really hard to rise above it,” she told Vanity Fair. And rise above it she did. At 40, she’s hotter than ever (did we mention that now-famous nude GQ cover?) and has had a few high-profile relationships—with actor Vince Vaughan, model Paul Sculfor and singer John Mayer.
After starring in a slew of movies, Aniston got her first major hit with 2008’s Marley & Me, opposite Owen Wilson, which was a holiday hit. She then followed up with He’s Just Not That Into You, as part of an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly and Drew Barrymore.
Aniston’s upcoming movies show her evolution as a talented and diverse actress. They also happen to be with some of the hottest leading men. In her next film, Love Happens, costarring Aaron Eckhart, Aniston plays a florist who struggles with her attraction to a man (Eckhart) she meets at a seminar. She’ll also star with Jason Bateman in The Baster and with Gerard Butler in The Bounty.
