Christmas seems to be a popular time for engagements, at least in the acting world. It was announced just after Christmas that Steven Tyler proposed to girlfriend Erin Brady, while Matthew McConaughey asked Camilla Alves, the mother of his two children, to marry him on Christmas Day. Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd, 32, who played the romantic Irish policeman Nathan Rhodes in the movie, has also proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Scottish-born TV presenter/comedian Dawn Porter, also 32. Porter announced the engagement via Twitter on December 29, writing: “I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it,” while later that day O’Dowd wrote on his Twitter page: “I’m so bored of all this happiness and sex. I’m getting married.” In a later post, he wrote: “Aw, thanks for all the congrats guys. Feelin the twitter love today. Very happy & lucky boy.”
