Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel rude to fans

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 17, 2014 | 32 Comments

F0llowing the premiere of their new movie Sex Tape at the Regal Union Square Theater in New York, Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel were unbelievably rude to the fans who’d shown up, according to Radaronline.com. An eyewitness told the gossip site that when the co-stars were leaving the theater, a handful of fans asked for photos and/or autographs, but were treated like dirt. The source recounted: “It’s not like the fans were following them at a hotel or restaurant, it was a film premiere with fans. Both of their attitudes were disgusting. When a 20-something fan asked Jason for a photo as he left the premiere he said, ‘No’ and literally slammed the car door right in the fan’s face. People gasped, that’s how bad it was. And when Cameron was spotted, she also refused the fans, telling them, ‘If I did it for you I’d have have to do it for everyone’ before storming off. Cameron was as unfriendly as can be and it was really disappointing. And Jason was downright nasty to his fans. There were literally only four of five fans waiting and asking for them when they left. It was not a huge crowd and would have taken less time for them to sign an autograph or take a picture rather than giving a lecture about not doing it.”

Picture a few years later when you are a washed up
” star” begging for B movie roles… you will remember how you treated those fans who were clammering for your autograph. Fame is very fickle!

Pretty certain the tens of millions they made in their careers will be more than enough consolation for having lost their “fame”.

  3. MAL • July 17, 2014 @ 9:41 AM

    Movies gonna bomb either way

  4. Ryan • July 17, 2014 @ 9:53 AM

Not sure why Hollywood even makes films like that. Sounds as stupid as hell.

  5. Marinasinger • July 17, 2014 @ 9:55 AM

Does anyone really care about them or what they do anyway??? Cameron’s Star power is practically non-existant these days anyway. Only 4 or 5 fans waiting for them after a premiere shows just how far she has fallen. As for Jason Segel…. WHO?????

  6. ttilcox • July 17, 2014 @ 10:32 AM

Cameron Diaz is a snob! I saw her years ago at a TIFF premier, and she couldn’t give the time of day to the fans, but was all smiles and talked to the press. Lost all respect for her as an actress and will not see any more of her movies. If it wasn’t for the fans, she wouldn’t be where she is!

This is the type of news Yahoo, Goggle, etc should show to the world. The truthful nature of these so called stars. Instead they focusing on garbage news such as the Kardashians or other no-body’s.

They should show how these not so grateful actors act with their fans so that we know not to see their pathetic movies.

  8. Sue • July 17, 2014 @ 11:09 AM

Now that we know how they truly appreciate their fans, how much you want to bet that at the next showing they will be Super Nice….as per their publicity agents request…..Hypocrites.

Looks to me like radaronline is making more of the supposed rudeness than was actually there. What Diaz and Segel said wasn’t so bad. The rest of the report is interpretation of their actions – he “slammed” a car door, she was seen “storming off.” Really, he may have simply closed the door and she may have just walked away. It’s all in how you phrase it.

Anyone else think this story smells like a steaming pile of garbage? I know that Cameron Diaz has a rep for being snooty so it very well could be plausible. However, the way this is written, it sounds like someone’s just holding a grudge that they didn’t get their time of day and just wants to smear them. Jason Segel said “no” and LITERALLY slammed the car door in the fan’s face. Mm-hmm. And why was the fan so close to the car? Were they perhaps invasive of Diaz and Segel’s personal space?

Three sides to every story (fans side, celeb’s side, and what actually happened). That’s all I’m saying. I’m not taking this at face value.

Can these people honestly think they have so much “talent” that their work will stand on its merits with no need for fans who buy the tickets and pay their salaries?

Don’t find either one of these people interesting and this movie, from all I have seen and read, is hardly meritorious enough to allow the actors to behave in an entitled fashion.

Don’t show up. They might even get the message.

Everyone has bad days. Forgive and forget and move on.

  13. Richard • July 17, 2014 @ 1:01 PM

Pure snobbery and nothing else !!!

  14. Elise • July 17, 2014 @ 1:07 PM

Sounds like a crock from a pissy fan, to me. Get over yourselves, people. Nobody was treated rudely here, from what I see. Just someone who thinks they are entitled because they saw a blasted movie and is blowing things out of proportion . . . get over yourselves ‘fans’ and get a real life!

  15. Elise • July 17, 2014 @ 1:10 PM

Oh, and while we’re at it, the stars are ‘entitled’ to some privacy and to be people. You are not entitled to their signatures or pictures, any more than you are entitled to those things from your neighbours! You don’t ‘pay their salaries’!!! Stupid! They used their creative talents to produce something, you used your money to pay to see it. THEY DO NOT WORK FOR YOU, Stupid!

  16. Joe • July 17, 2014 @ 1:19 PM

Another entitled fan not getting exactly what THEY want. Why isn’t it enough to just see them onscreen? Why do you need your own personal experience with a movie star. It’s a job, they act, that’s it. Leave them alone, watch the movie, convey you’re a fan and let them be.

  17. richard hill • July 17, 2014 @ 2:03 PM

Whats the BIG DEAL SHE NOT EVEN A GOOD ACTRESS, JUST LEAVE THEM COMPLETELY ALONE NEXT TIME….

  18. Herb schwarz • July 17, 2014 @ 2:34 PM

couldn’t stand either of these no-talents before i heard this.

  19. Yvonne • July 17, 2014 @ 3:14 PM

Cameron Diaz is old and ugly!!!! plus she has no acting skills of course. Jason Segal is a needle dick.

  20. rio • July 17, 2014 @ 3:57 PM

I am not a big fan of either but I will believe this when I see a video. Its sad that people are so willing to believe anything negative about successful people
    Jealousy is ugly too.
Stop playing into the media’s hands so easily people. Your paying for the papps vacations.
What probably happened is they told the papps “no”.

  21. Honest in VA • July 17, 2014 @ 4:08 PM

Never thought Cameron Diaz was anything more than a greasy-faced, not so attractive wanna be and as for Mr. Segel, well, he’s not what I would go after and I’ve seen him in one or two pics and he has little to no acting talent at all–same for her.
SO THEIR NEW MOVIE IS CALLED “SEX TAPE” , HUH? FROM THE LOOKS OF THEM, IT WILL PROBABLY ONLY BE SHOWN AT SOME XXX DRIVE IN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WHERE ALL THE OLD GUYS GO TO BEAT OFF TO ANYTHING! WHO THE HELL WOULD WANT TO SEE EITHER OF THEM NAKED?

  22. Dee Train • July 17, 2014 @ 5:54 PM

Don’t always believe what the media tells you! People always want to make a story out of nothing

  23. Emma • July 17, 2014 @ 11:16 PM

Do people actually believe this BS? This is nothing more than exaggerated gossip.

I remember a story from 2 years ago about Meryl Streep being rude to the locals/neighbours in her area. They called her nasty, said she doesn’t give back to people, that she was renovating on her property and didn’t care that people were angry about road blocks. I mean seriously? That story, and this one about Cameron & Jason, have no proof and no real sources. These types of stories always sound like they came from one fan who was annoyed because he/she didn’t get an autograph or something and wanted to get revenge by making exaggerated claims.

  24. cannape • July 18, 2014 @ 12:37 AM

was it real fans or autograph resellers? in all paparazzi vids, even for ppl who’d usually have teen girl fans, there are these old guys holding a dozen posters, getting them autographed so they can sell them for $$$ on the internet. Obvious resellers. I wonder of one of them got his panties in a twist and spread this rumor.

  25. Lady Mills • July 18, 2014 @ 9:11 AM

I dislike the media, they make it up as they go, yes there can be some disgrunted fans, and people who want signed posters so they can be sold for more money. I dislike how the world can be so borish and snobby, but so can the actors.

  26. Snepts • July 18, 2014 @ 10:43 AM

    Can’t say I’m surprised.

  27. Tony • July 18, 2014 @ 11:36 AM

Cameron who. Oh the b…tch from the mask and never heard of the other guy a match made in douche heaven

  28. L • July 19, 2014 @ 12:16 AM

She is gross and washed up she is aging
    really bad, who wants leftovers?
As for Jason he belongs with the old bag
and by the way your movie will bomb
    ha ha
    Losers!

  29. SClub7 • July 19, 2014 @ 10:58 AM

I completely agree with everyone that has commented or alluded to the fact that this story is potentially BS i.e. just a media interpretation. Until we see video footage of what happened (or were actually present), who can judge whether they were being rude or not!?! Plus I’ve talked to friends of mine about actions of others that I thought were rude that they did not think were and vice versa, so I think the interpretation is subjective varying according to people’s sensitivity, etc. So even if the reporter or interviewee/witness of the story claims they were rude, really were they? I guess that depends on what you consider rude – considering some of the things I see non-celebrities do in their daily lives, celebrities are no more rude than non-celebrities. I’m pretty sure I’ve encountered some of the rudest people alive and they are not celebrities – the only major difference is they’re not followed by the media and their lives are not advertised and made open for scrutiny and judgement.

  30. Ringo Spencer • July 21, 2014 @ 1:53 PM

Speaking of celebrities, several years ago, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were vacationing in Muskoka. Their cottage was on the lake and people, of course, wanted to see them. They would drive by in their boats or walk by, just to get a glimpse of the couple, or maybe talk to them. According to the story, they were both abusive to the other vacationers and locals. In reality, they were on vacation and wanted their privacy. Do not see anything wrong with that, don’t blame them one bit. I mean, i am a big fan of Kurt’s, but I would never go out of my way to talk to the guy. If he just happens to be in a store that I am in, I would probably tell him I enjoy his films and thanks. Walk away and don’t bother the guy. Let’s face it, there are too many weird people in the world today. I do not blame any celebrities for not wanting to speak to anyone.
