Celine Dion expecting second child

By Alexandra Heilbron on August 18, 2009 | 19 Comments

celine_dionCanadian singer Celine Dion, 41, is expecting another child, according to today’s Journal de Montreal.  Dion and her manager/husband, René Angelil, 67, have an eight-year-old son named René-Charles. The paper reports that the couple conceived with the help of fertility doctors in New York. Angelil, whose battle with cancer several years ago had the couple worried that he might not be able to have another child, also has three grown children — Patrick, Manon and Jean-Pierre — from two previous marriages.

i think they both are. i heard after a woman hits 35 theres too many complications in getting pregnant and too many different things that can happen to her and the baby. i really hope nothing happens to them.

Agreed, they both are getting a little long in the tooth to be having a baby, but at least it will be well loved.

He is quite older than her, that’s true, but a lot of women are still having kids in their forties these days, my hats off to them and Celine, as I know how much they wanted another child!! I heard her family on televsion tonight and they are all SO excited about it, it’s nice to hear as they are one HUGE family and she is VERY close to all of them!!

mandee, I had my last at 35 and it was the most difficult of my three for sure, but I know many who have had even later and did well…

I guess I feel it’s such a personal choice and I’d have to say many I know who had them much younger are divorced and I believe it’s sometimes better to wait a bit…saying that, he is definitely older than what I consider waiting a bit, but they certainly seem to have the love and resources available to raise another child…

hahahaha t.g., I can’t help laughing at the long in the tooth phrase, maybe they should be auditioning for True Blood ? kidding…

  6. tributegirl • August 19, 2009 @ 3:50 PM

Maybe! Actually, I guess just by using that phrase, I dated myself, didn’t I? LOL

I think it is crazy, and on the radio today they were making fun of their little girl, because if you didn’t know better, the boy does look feminine and his hair is way too long. Celine has amazing talent, but she bugs me.

  8. Nancy • August 19, 2009 @ 9:29 PM

I agree, Carol, she bugs me too. Very talented but I can’t stand the look of her. I find her “weird” looking and yes, her daughter ooops, I mean son, definately could use a haircut.

  9. Jo-Anne • August 19, 2009 @ 10:49 PM

totally disagree…hair length should not define masculinity or feminity…however adults calling a small boy a girl because of it defines shallowness…

  10. mandee • August 20, 2009 @ 12:05 AM

if the mother wont cut the little boys hair, they should be making fun of HER not him. also, i think when they are still young they should have an appropriate haircut for their gender.

    Jo,

You hit the nail on the head, AGAIN!! Celine is a bit different and when I saw her son with such long hair, I admit I was surprised, but he likes it and she lets him wear it as he wants, so I guess he’s lucky his Mom lets him be who he wants, nothing wrong with that, it’s ONLY hair!!

  12. mandee • August 20, 2009 @ 7:56 AM

well, it makes him look like a girl, and the fact that his name is unisex makes it even worse.

  13. francophile • August 20, 2009 @ 9:13 AM

René-Charles is most definitely a French boy’s name, it is not unisex. The female of René would be Renée, but it’s not used as much. The name René for boys in Quebec is very common, it’s like John or Bob.

  14. mandee • August 20, 2009 @ 5:41 PM

and its said the exact same was as renee so to me, yes it is unisex, and to school children, yes it will be.

Nancy, I guess you are still my boss…lol

p.s. did you have your own room at the cottage or you bunked down with the boss?

Seems like theres gonna be a lot of talk on this subject in the coming months. Enough to feed the media monster for quite a while:)

Im really happy for Celine and René. Theyre great people and deserve to basque in the real pleasures of life: the ones which for most of us cant be bought.www.pyrolaser.com

Dear francophile on August 20, 2009 9:13 AM,

Nice to know that people like us from Montreal can differentiate from Rene and Renee, as obviously there are some that do not know French and the difference between a female and male name, so don’t sweat it, as with Mandee or Nancy, you’ll never win, but I appreciated it as I’m from there myself and darn proud of it!!

  19. Nancy • August 20, 2009 @ 8:17 PM

April: I never said a word to ‘francophile’ or about the child or his fathers name, so stop trying to insinuate things that aren’t true.
