New movies in theaters – Lisa Frankenstein and more

Several new movies are hitting theaters this weekend, including the horror comedy Lisa Frankenstein, as well as three re-releases. Check them out below and watch the trailers to decide what you want to see at the movies this weekend. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Lisa Frankenstein – Lisa (Kathryn Newton), a misunderstood teenager, falls for a statue at the grave of a young man (Cole Sprouse) who has been dead for many years. When his reanimated corpse comes out of his grave to meet her, they embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness and a few missing body parts. Click here for showtimes.

Anyone But You: The Valentine Encore – Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. Dune – Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) is a member of the royal family on his home planet who has has vivid dreams of a girl (Zendaya) on the spice planet Arrakis. After Paul’s father Leto (Oscar Isaac) makes a deal involving Arrakis, he and Paul travel to Arrakis. Leto wants to harvest the spice, while Paul wants to find the girl. But outsiders who have been getting rich from the profits they’ve made selling the spice try to exterminate everyone to keep it all for themselves. Re-release; also playing in IMAX. Turning Red – Meilin (Rosalie Chiang) is a typical middle-schooler who wakes up one morning to find she’s become a giant red panda. Although she tries to hide what has happened, she soon discovers her mother (Sandra Oh) isn’t surprised, and wants to help her. Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan talks about voicing the character Priya in the Disney/Pixar animated feature film, Turning Red. She reveals one of the main reasons she accepted the role and tells what she would do if she could turn into a giant red panda.

Peppa’s Cinema Party – Marking the start of the 20th anniversary celebrations for Peppa Pig, this hour-long cinema experience offers 10 never-before-seen Peppa Pig episodes. A party bus bonus episode is also included together with new interactive entertainment featuring Peppa and her friends breaking into the real world through a mixture of animation and live action with five new songs. Jeff Koons: A Private Portrait – Jeff Koons is widely regarded as one of the most influential, popular and disputed artists of the last 30 years. This film shows the hidden mechanisms lying behind the person, the artist and the Koons brand. Out of Darkness – In 43,000 B.C., a small boat reaches the shores of a desolate landscape. A group of six have struggled across the narrow sea to find a new home.
