Spider-Man 2 swings into top spot at box office

Was there any doubt that fans wouldn’t run to theaters to see the red-and-blue spider in action? The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swung into the top spot at the box office, earning an estimated $92 million and 3.5 stars from Tribute fans. The sequel has also grossed nearly $370 million at the international box office. Cameron Diaz‘s The Other Woman fell to second place, earning an additional $14.2 million and retaining its four star Tribute.ca rating. Heaven is for Real held on to third place with $8.7 million, also retaining a 4 star rating. Captain America: The Winter Soldier dropped to fourth place, adding $7.8 million to its already impressive domestic total of $237 million. It also has a 4 star rating. Rounding out the top five was the popular animated flick Rio 2, which earned $7.6 million at the weekend box office.

Also included in this weekend’s top ten are: Brick Mansions ($3.5M), Divergent ($2.2M), The Quiet Ones ($2.0M), God’s Not Dead ($1.7M) and The Grand Budapest Hotel ($1.7M). For full box office results click here. ~Dylan Paisley
