Transformers 3 extra critically injured

By Alexandra Heilbron on September 2, 2010 | 15 Comments

On the final day of shooting on the Transformers 3 set, a female extra named Gabriela V. Cedillo, 24, of Chicago was seriously injured during the filming of a stunt involving several cars and drivers. The accident occurred Wednesday night when a cable snapped and went through the windshield of the Toyota that Cedillo was driving. She was airlifted to Loyola Hospital with serious head injuries and is reportedly in critical condition. Blaine Baker, who was also an extra on the set told WLS-TV: “A vehicle was being towed by another vehicle. The cable between the two vehicles broke. It whipped around and sliced through the woman’s car and sliced through her skull, apparently. ”

Update: Ms. Cedillo is in stable condition after undergoing brain surgery.

I hope she is OK. I hope Michael Bay offered to pay her medical bills and pain and suffering.

I hope she lives. I used to do extra work and once was asked to drive my own car in a shot. Otherwise, I would’ve thought it was weird that an extra was driving a car instead of a stunt person.

I do hope she is o.k.. You can always know these things can happen… but never know when it’s going to strike.. I do wish her the best and am praying for her and her family.

See if Michael Bay just stuck to using CGI like he always did, none of this would happen.
