Zoë Kravitz on why she ‘felt like a freak’

Zoë KravitzSome may say that celeb kids have it easy. But having a famous last name was a struggle for Zoë Kravitz.

In an interview with Elle, the 29-year-old actress revealed: “I went through a really awkward phase. I was short and brown, and surrounded by tall girls with boobs and blonde hair. And my dad was dating supermodels, so I was waking up to Adriana Lima. I didn’t have beauty as a crutch, and I’m thankful for that because I had to develop my personality.”

Kravitz is the daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet. She attended a private school in Miami which was predominantly white. She said: “It was a rough time for someone trying to discover who they are. I went to a private school in Miami, surrounded by wealthy kids, mostly white. I felt like a freak because my hair was different, and little kids would come up and say, ‘Can I feel your hair?'”

“The things that made me different were the things I didn’t like about myself; I wanted to straighten my hair, remind people that I was half white.”

The actress will next be seen playing Leta Lestrange in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. ~Marriska Fernandes

As a Teen – you want what you cannot have. I am Indigenous. I wanted curly hair…white skin and small hips! I had straight hair, was brown and tanned without trying. My daughters…one has long straight hair…wants wavy curly hair..the younger one has wavy hair..wants her sisters straight hair. Both are gorgeous, smart and creative. We always want what we do not have. Growing up…a granddaughter of Heads of our Houses. My Grandparents both had rights to land and houses. I have grown up with responsibilities that I was born to. I should embrace them, but these responsibilities scare the crap out of me. I was raised by parents who during the Church and Government wanted to annihilate our rights to be alive and our right not to embrace English Church and language. JESUS did not speak ENGLISH! Idiots. Being a survivor or Race and Culture – OMG…Gurl…you inspire so many! Embrace and explore those that you do inspire! Hugs

She grew up in Malibu with wealth. It just goes to show that anyone can feel sorry for themselves. How about you get acquainted with people who have really struggled, Zoe? Your whining is pathetic.

This article is incomplete and I am positive the interview did not end with I didn’t like myself and I wanted straight hair. I am sure she explained how she matured over the years and what she now loves about herself.

This article was avoidable crap…you only had to write a summary of the interview. Yet, it was a massive failure.
