Katherine Heigl named Female Star of the Year

Katherine Heigl will be named Female Star of the Year at ShoWest 2010 next month. The actress is best known for her role on medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, but made her big screen breakthrough in the hit comedy Knocked Up alongside Seth Rogen. Since then she enjoyed leading roles in films such as 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth. Katherine will receive the award at a lavish gala which will close the annual motion picture industry exhibition on March 18 in Las Vegas. “Her ever-present charm and innate talent have made Heigl’s transition from TV screen to silver screen seemingly effortless,” ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said. “Her comedic timing and flair for acting are showcased in each of her roles and have captivated audiences around the globe.” Katherine can next be seen with Ashton Kutcher in the comedy Killers. Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, who both appear in Beastly – a modern adaptation of Beauty and the Beast – will also be recognized at the banquet — as the ShoWest 2010 Female and Male Star of Tomorrow.
