Katherine Heigl smokes electronic cigarettes

Katherine Heigl has managed to not smoke a tobacco cigarette in six months. She told Parade magazine: “I use an electronic cigarette. I know it’s ridiculous, but it’s helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes. You feel like you are smoking, and you get to exhale but it’s just water vapor and not nicotine. I’ve been doing it for six months. Smoking sucks!”
The 31-year-old actress, who has 20-month-old adopted daughter Naleigh with husband Josh Kelley — wants to set a good example to her child by not smoking. She said: “The one thing I would say to my kid is, ‘It’s not just that it’s bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn’t even really give you a good buzz?'”

Good for her – I’ve heard quitting is really, really hard, and she is definitely setting a good example for her daughter.
Those things actually still contain nicotine. Still much debate over them too. But if there is one key thing about them, it’s that second hand smoke seems to be very low if not gone.
That all said, I do think it is a step in the right direction.

That is so cool, they should use them in movies instead of real cigarettes. Or cut cigarettes out of movies altogether.
Having a few doctor friends I have been told that it is not the nicotine which is the real problem. As a chemical the only bad thing about it really is its addictive qualities. Anyone who can begin the process to stop smoking is doing themselves and their neighbors a huge favor.
I quit cold turkey 12 years ago – and it was by far, the HARDEST thing I ever did.
