The Iron Giant (1999) – Robot Dreams

With the release of the Signature Edition of Brad Bird's 1999 animated classic The Iron Giant, audiences were treated to a new deleted scene. The scene features our titular robot sleeping in McCoppin's junkyard and experiencing a nightmare. With a news bulletin playing in the background and a few of Hogarth's lines being reused as voiceover for the dream, we see the Iron Giant fearing his original purpose as a machine of war bringing destruction and devastation to the Earth. It's a haunting sequence and likely one that was thought to be too dark for young audiences at the time.
