American Idol lost two judges at the end of its 11th season – Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez left the series last month. Lopez’s spot was recently filled by Mariah Carey for an alleged hefty sum of $17 million, but Tyler’s spot is yet to be filled. Speculators pointed at Toby Keith to fill that spot and they were right – partially. The country singer confirmed that he was, in fact, approached by American Idol representatives asking him to join the judging panel – but we won’t be seeing him on the show because he declined the offer. A representative for Keith said, “Toby was flattered but turned down the offer from American Idol.” A reason for the decline was not given. As the search for the last judge continues, some names mentioned as being in the running include rapper Pharrell Williams and Jonas Brothers band member Nick Jonas, but no names have yet been confirmed. ~Stacy Raivich

Why does it have to be a singer.. why cant it be someone who is not a singer, but someone who is more of a mentor.. Singer judges like to use their own experiences in the bases of how they judge.. You need two Simons..
