Why Prince Harry and Meghan won’t be seen on The Crown

Olivia Colman in season 3 of The CrownThe Crown creator Peter Morgan has revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be included at any time during the fifth or sixth seasons of the hit Netflix series.

The series began with Elizabeth becoming Queen in the first season, and has included storylines involving her husband Prince Philip, sister Princess Margaret and her children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. It has been confirmed that Princess Diana will be included in a storyline at some point in a future season.

Morgan told The Hollywood Reporter: “Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end. One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.

“There have been plenty of opportunities in the past where there have been marital complications. There’ve been wives that have been married into the Royal Family that have felt unwelcome and that they don’t fit in. So there are plenty of stories to tell without telling the story of Harry and Meghan.”

Have you been watching The Crown? What storylines do you hope are covered in the series? Which Queen Elizabeth do you like best, Claire Foy as young Elizabeth or Olivia Colman as the older Elizabeth? Let us know in the comments below! ~Alexandra Heilbron

I totally agree with the exclusion of Harry and Meghan. I think a great parting note would be Charles and Camilla at William and Catherine’s wedding acknowledging that the monarchy will someday be left in the hands of 2 people committed to the system and their 3 children will also have it covered for years to come

I agree too. I don’t even think they should include Diana.

I liked Claire Foy as Elizabeth and I agree, Harry and Meghan shouldn’t be featured.

There’s already so much history to include we don’t need to flash forward to now to include Harry & Meghan. Plus we already have those awkward lifetime movies of their relationship if we really need their story in our lives

Harry & M have chosen to sever their title & ties to the Royal Family so of course should be excluded from any mention. No mention is deserved whatsoever.

I think the Princess Diana storyline should be included. The Queen’s reaction and response to her tragic death was a big misstep that should be shown. To conclude the series with William and Kate’s wedding pretty much brings us up to date and would not need to have any mention of Harry and Meagan at all, in my humble opinion!

I agree No Harry and Megan, I dont think that marriage will survive.

Alice Emerson – I don’t think it will last either. And if it doesn’t, I hope the Royals will not take Harry back into their fold. You can’t just walk in & out of the Royal niche as you please. They all have an obligation to the people of England who support them to live very comfortably & beyond. But we know of course that they will take him back — I just wish they would not. Harry is & has always been an idiot & has shamed his Royal family many, many times. This thing with his creepy wife & her creepy family is just another slam.

Claire Foy was amazing as the young Elizabeth. She carried the season as far as I am concerned. She has been my favourite actor of all of them. I agree with leaving Harry and Meagan out of the series – leave them to the tabloids.
