It is not the fault of the people who manage it

April 17, 2014

I do agree that the theatres need to be updated however the manager is doing there very best to keep it positive. There popcorn is not mouldy and I know for a fact it is made fresh a couple times a night as needed. I have met most of the staff and they are very pleasant and professional..if you go in there with the attitude you have as your negative thoughts then it will be very hard for anyone to deal with. I agree with the other persons comment regarding the sticky floor,,it is because pop is dumped on the floor,,,garbage is thrown on the floor as some people just don't care. Blame the owner if you want but not the people who are just trying to run it...

Just gross

April 17, 2014

The owner owns land by Walmart but is to cheap to build a new one. The places are falling apart. you wonna burn your cloths after sitting in the chairs if your lucky enough to find one you don't have to do a balancing act on during the whole movie. even a row of lawn chairs and a projector hooked to a laptop would probably be a better experience than these places. Not to mention most of the staff is 12.

Sucks

April 17, 2014

Gotta like the only place in the Yukon that has a theatre but moldy popcorn, seats that are super small, overall dirty and grungy, horrible surround sound just don't cut it. Land mark or not an update would benefit everyone!

They have the budget.

April 17, 2014

I believe they are owned by Landmark. With a population of 35,000 and Whitehorse being a capitol city you'd think they would build a new theater. Here in Kelowna they have a nice one and on the west side they just built a big new amazing one with all the amenities. Not good business.

Terrible theaters

April 17, 2014

Sticky floors, popcorn everywhere, kids running up and down aisles, staff has no customer service skills at all. Most of the time the kids are standing and talking with friends and barely giving the customers the time of day. I have to agree with everyone about the seats, you never know when one is going to break when you sit down. SUCKS.

Looking for ZERO Star

April 17, 2014

Why are these theatres even still open. Both Qwanlin and Yukon Cinemas are long overdue for demolition, poorly equipped and poorly maintained.

Please burn to the ground and start fresh (:

Our theaters are absolutely terrible. They are usually pretty dirty, staff do their best but it is pretty hard to scrub off 40 plus years of gunk. Seats are often broken or in some cases not existent we literally have a stump where a seat should be with a bag over it. The heat as others have mentioned often does not work. There have been times that I had to bring my own blanket to keep warm. Yet was still charged full price even though they knew the furnace was not working. I used to go to the theaters at least 4 times a month. I love watching movies (I own over 700) but the theater has declined so much it is just not enjoyable to go anymore, add that to the price for the experience it has become harder and harder to justify going to the movies. Like other commenters I also go to the bigger theaters when I travel south and over the time span of a weekend it is not unheard of for me to see 2 or three movies. I always go at least once. I wish I could spend that money here in Whitehorse but I just can't. I have never had any trouble with service but I know a lot of the kids who work there so that could be why I don't have too many issues there.

Head Office Doesn't Care

April 17, 2014

I haven't been to a movie in years here. I won't go. It's gross, it's cold, the staff and managers don't give a rip and it's just not worth the money. You couldn't PAY me to go to the movies here...BOTH cinemas. Close it. Turn it into a homeless shelter.

I dont/wont go any more

April 17, 2014

Used to go once a month for date night with my husband. The last time I went Hell Boy was playing if that tells you how long its been. Unclean...Uncomfortable...Unfriendly... I wouldnt mind the price if it was on par with theaters down south. Renos .... I want a new theater and until that happens this family boycotts movie going in Whitehorse. So it boils down to...I will spend $2500.00 to have a holiday down south and see a movie down there before I would spend $25 for a movie, pop, and popcorn in Whitehorse. ZERO RATING if I could and that in my opinion is being generous
