Burt Reynolds has been discharged from a drug rehabilitation centre in West Palm Beach where he was treated for an addiction to painkillers. He was admitted to the Hanley Center last month after falling and hitting his head at his Florida waterfront mansion. His manager, Erik Kritzer, released a statement saying the Smokey and the Bandit star, 73, became hooked after recent back surgery and “realized that he was in the prison of prescription pain pills.” Kritzer added, “He checked himself into rehab in order to regain control of his life. Mr. Reynolds hopes his story will help others in a similar situation. He hopes they will not try to solve the problem by themselves, but realize that sometimes it is too tough to do on their own and they should seek help, as he did.”
