Rose McGowan afraid for life after Harvey Weinstein verdict

By Marriska Fernandes on February 27, 2020 | 16 Comments

Rose McGowanRose McGowan is afraid Harvey Weinstein might hire a hitman to kill her, believing he’s “potentially one of the biggest serial rapists in history.”

Earlier this week, disgraced movie media mogul Weinstein was convicted of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual assault, more than two years after the allegations of sexual misconduct against him sparked the global #MeToo movement. Rose, who was among the first women to publicly accuse him, appeared on UK TV show, Good Morning Britain, to speak candidly about his conviction.

She said: “He very much came after me, he and his giant machine of other monsters — enablers, people that he paid to do dastardly things. Things that sound like they’re out of a spy novel but they’re my life. The other night, I have to be honest, I was sitting at home and I was thinking I should do the laundry and then I thought, ‘Oh, I wonder if he gets convicted if he’ll hire a hitman to kill me? Oh, I wonder what I want for dinner.’ These are just casual thoughts of my life and that’s what’s so wrong and sick. And that’s why I fought so hard for this to stop.”

“If we do the math, and we do it correctly, he could be potentially be one of the biggest serial rapists in history, because he had a full machine set up only to rape … there was a rape factory, that was what the business was about behind the scenes.”

McGowan feared he would be exonerated. She said: “This is a huge victory for all of us who have ever been effected by Harvey Weinstein. This effects so many. It’s a huge moment. I thought he was going to exonerated. I never really had hope you see. I realized the last time I had hope was the moment before I was raped by him and after that it became survival. I didn’t have hope but not because of the jury, I’m very grateful to that jury for getting further than most jury’s get in rape cases. I was worried, it’s hard to speak publicly about it without getting sued. But it’s an extraordinary moment and it’s a watershed moment.”

While sentencing has yet to be announced, Weinstein is facing a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of up to 25 years. Rose feels that’s not long enough, concluding: “For me, personally, I would just rather he ceased to exist. The world would be better off but I am happy there is one less serial predator on the streets.”

It was pretty disgraceful what he did, but this has gone on in Hollywood for over 100 years. Now he will be the poster boy for this. Lots of women could have just said no, but there careers were more important to them.

Get over yourself, Rose!! You made Natalie Portman’s outfit about you and now this!!?? You aren’t the center of the universe…..

I don’t know if the previous commenters are both men – yeah sure I thought it was crazy to come down on Natalie Portman but the woman is probably dealing with ptsd and needs help (I know I would have after going through something like that and then the backlash from fighting it) she doesn’t know how to turn off the fear so she sees it everywhere – and Patrick … she could’ve just said no? Wow – Have some real talks with your female friends- I know many women- many smart women- who felt they had to have sex to get out of a situation alive or not beaten up – and they learned to stay hyper vigilant to protect themselves – I’m sure those men along with Harvey Weinstein thought they were doing nothing wrong- so yeah really check in with your female friends- that is if they are not afraid to honestly speak to you -before you open your mouth and say she could’ve just said no

Why should a woman be assaulted or raped to further her career? This type of behaviour is just as bad as being mugged or beaten. Too many men conflate loving consensual sex with this often violent violation of a woman’s body. A man can inflict severe damage to a woman with this kind of assault not precluding the emotional and psychological trauma that follows. How would any man feel if that was his wife, daughter or sister?

The world is full of male sexual predators. Just this week our own home town boy Peter Nygard, the name should be familiar for most, he has his huge posters of his face plastered all over his clothing stores in the world. He was known for decades in Manitoba as a sexual predator. His New York court date will rival Weinsteins’ He also charged with human trafficking girls as young as 14 and 15. He is finished in the clothing business.

I hope he gets the maximum sentence and that he’s repeatedly raped in prison or killed. @Patrick Pratt, your comments are ignorant. You have obviously never been in a position where someone more powerful than you puts you in a desperate situation. It’s always easier to blame the victim than to look at the predator’s actions.

Ya could of not meet with him, but then no career. Your chose. Now, career going no where its a problem. Cash in with a civil suit. Coming from a lady who slept with Marilyn Mason.
Career was more important then sleeping with a pig.

She’s safe cause she’s not worth the time. She sold her body for fame while the streetwalkers sell for money. Same thing different form of pay

    Clearly she is nuts.

Thank you for your calm take Diane on the mostly male comments above where Rose is being compared to a prostitute. It’s so sad and easier to blame the victim. No one should be forced to have to choose between having a career or sexual assault.
I’ve attended several universities and didnt need to have sex with my professor to pass my course requirements!
Although, I’m sure in the academic world rape occurs as the men above postulate women need only say “no” and all sexual abuse will stop. Not if men twist it all up that these women could easily remove themselves out of the threat filled situation. Any research shows that sexual assault has more to do with power than intercourse. It’s to demean and destroy an individual’s sense of self and safety. So saying no is actually part of the assault dynamic . This type of predator wants and needs this dynamic. And I think saying no in some situations can end a woman’s life not just her career hopes. So sometimes getting through is all a woman can do. And having first been raped by a predator she doesn’t need her courage to be raped afterwards!!

If she’s nuts, as some here claim, it’s because Weinstein did a number on her following the rape. He sent spies to pretend to be journalists to interview her to find out what she was willing to tell about him, he even sent a woman spy to become her friend and at one point, Rose believed that woman she was only one she could trust and even told her that. Only….. she was a spy. So Rose couldn’t trust anyone. So tell me, after you’ve been raped by a powerful man who tries to muzzle you and derails your career so nobody will hire you… and your peaceful private life is infiltrated by spies so that you know you can never trust anyone ever again, who would you be? And do her fears sound all that crazy now?

She is insane! The arrangement she made didn’t work out for her so now she plays victim. Hollywood is a strange different place with its own rules. What Patrick said was absolutely correct. That fact that you don’t like it does not change things.

  14. Argosfree • March 3, 2020 @ 12:48 PM

Patrick and P.T. wow your comments just show how dumb useless pieces of trash you both are. Its too bad we cant change things if we could we could aways go back and force your mothers to get abortions and do the world a favour

  15. Tracey • March 3, 2020 @ 4:55 PM

Wow! Some controversial views here, but Argosfree: You are absolutely reprehensible! I’m surprised that comment is allowed to stay up!

Since it’s public knowledge that he threatened to kill Salma Hayek, threatened to break her kneecaps, wrote in an email that Jennifer Aniston should be killed after he thought she’d told a media outlet that he’d sexually molested her (she didn’t, she kept all his abuse towards her silent), I’m not surprised Rose is afraid. She has every reason to be. She was his loudest accuser. Thanks to her (and Ashley Judd who finally spoke up when no one believed Rose), he was finally exposed.
