Words and Pictures, starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche, is set in Maine, but was actually filmed in Vancouver. The movie, which focuses on what inspires artists to create, is set at a boarding school and features Owen as the school’s English teacher who is also a writer struggling to find inspiration. Binoche is a new art teacher at the school. Also an artist, her arthritis has progressed to a point where she finds it difficult to paint. What’s interesting about this film is that Binoche is an artist herself and all the work that’s attributed to her character is actually done by her. In fact, she even paints canvases during the film – you can watch her at work. Words and Pictures debuts next Friday, June 27 in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, then expands on July 4 to other major Canadian markets.
