Rock of Ages to get big screen release

The Broadway cast of Rock of AgesRock of Ages, the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical, is making its way to the big screen. It features music by bands such as Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar. The Broadway cast includes American Idol fourth season finalist Constantin Maroulis in the lead role as Drew, an aspiring rocker, for which he received a Leading Actor Tony nomination. Adam Shankman (Hairspray) has signed on to direct and choreograph, but it hasn’t been announced yet whether any members of the Broadway cast will be asked to appear in the film. The film will begin shooting next summer for a 2011 release.
