Simon Cowell sparks engagement rumors

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 17, 2010 | 15 Comments

simon_cowellSimon Cowell has given his new girlfriend a large diamond ring. The music mogul presented make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy with the enormous sparkler during a romantic dinner at Mr. Chow in London on Valentine’s Day. Simon, 50, and Mezhgan were dining with Simon’s ex-girlfriend Jackie St. Claire and her husband Carl Michaelson when Simon declared he had a “special announcement.” He pulled out the ring, and placed it on his 36-year-old lover’s engagement ring finger. Jackie immediately started squealing with delight and the group’s waiter rushed over to offer Simon and Mezhgan complimentary champagne. “Simon may come across as Mr. Nasty on screen but he’s a big softie at heart,” a friend told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. “He wanted to do something unexpected and out of character on Valentine’s Day and decided to splash out on a ring. Mish was speechless and gave him a huge kiss. He is besotted with her, and she him.” The star’s representative has yet to comment on whether the couple are engaged. They have reportedly been dating since last June, when they collaborated on a makeover for Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.

  4. Carol • February 17, 2010 @ 8:40 PM

  6. Nancy • February 17, 2010 @ 9:33 PM

Yeah Carol! You should have had a dictionary a long time ago, LOL!! As for Howard Stern, I haven’t heard that, but it’s possible. I like Howard, think he’s funny as hell but, Idk, I think he’s a little too, uh, ‘sexual’ for AI. Hahahaha.

Howard Stern would have to take a pay cut to take that gig.

No no no!! this is NOT going according to plan!! he’s supposed to be with Paula… stop this madness, this horrible misunderstanding!!

    OK I’ll stop.

AHHH! I hate when there are two Carol’s on hear…here…LOL,
Anyway, apparently Ellen said if Howard is on, she is off. They hate each other. Neither one is suited for the show, no matter how much you like them. Randy, Paula and Simon each have a strong background in the industry, the others just like music. A lot of people think that means they’ll speak more for the general public, but I think they need to keep a panel of judges with the background and insight required to find someone who will be a hit.

  11. demigod • February 19, 2010 @ 12:45 AM

    Agreed. One Carol is enough.

  12. Nancy • February 19, 2010 @ 3:36 AM

Well, I think we need more Carol’s…and more Nancy’s too, hehehehe.

  13. Marilyne • February 19, 2010 @ 11:31 AM

I will stop watching Idol if Howard Stern every replaces Simon. He has no qualifications to be able to judge other peoples talent. Ellen doesn’t either, but with the other three qualified judges we could get away with that, but not with two unqualified. We need someone with music background to replace Simon.

  14. Nancy • February 22, 2010 @ 8:12 PM

I’d kinda like to see Ozzy replace Simon, LOL.

    omf, that would be awesome!!!
