Transformers breaks record

Despite raking in a whopping $97.4 million — the biggest Independence Day opening weekend ever — Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third installment in the blockbuster Transformers franchise, did not fare as well as the previous film, Revenge of the Fallen, which earned $108.9 million on its opening weekend in 2009. However, it easily crushed the weekend’s other new releases, Larry Crowne ($13 million) and Monte Carlo ($7.6 million), as well as last week’s champ, Cars 2 ($25.1 million).
Dark of the Moon will not be slowing down any time soon, but matching or beating Revenge of the Fallen‘s monstrous haul of $836.3 million worldwide will be tough. Poor reviews for Revenge of the Fallen could have a negative impact on Dark of the Moon‘s (which itself is garnering less than stellar reviews) overall performance at the box office. ~Jackie Allan

I saw it on Friday, it is the ultimate popcorn movie, if you’re not entertained by it then it missed you completely. I liked it myself, I thought the 3D was one of the best ever aside maybe from Avatar and the FX were among the best I have ever seen. It’s true that in all three movies it’s really hard to tell good Robots from bad in action scenes and that the Malchovic character was over the top colorful but the movie was funny and action was plenty. If you go in expecting a profound story and smart dialog then you might be disapointed.

You still get the Optimus speach about earth and their plante which is getting a bit anoying.

You obviously did not watch the same as I did. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! Revenge was ok and left me a bit worried going in, but they nailed. Excellent action, lots of humor and a decent story. Like X-Men, I enjoyed how they encorporated real events in history into the story.

I just saw it last night..blow your mind. Funny dialogue and amazing robotic action. It seems you can actually follow it better. The last movies it was hard to tell when the bots fought who was who, but in this one it seemed easier and killer scenes. The action sequences go on forever. Like talk about destroying Chicago. Go see this movie, pay for the rebuilding of that city. They levelled it big time! LOL
