American Idol’s Lauren Alaina was rejected by America’s Got Talent

Lauren Alaina may have been this season’s American Idol runner up, but she was previously rejected by America’s Got Talent. She appeared on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno Thursday, and coincidentally, America’s Got Talent host Piers Morgan was also a guest. He commented that he thought she was a better singer than Scotty McCreery, who won American Idol this year. That prompted Alaina to tell him, “Do you want to hear something funny?” She went revealed that she was rejected twice for America’s Got Talent. Morgan said, “Are you serious? … This is a scandal!” He’d never seen Alaina, because she hadn’t made it past the prelimary auditions that take place before contestants appear onstage for the judges. Alaina told hopeful singers in the audience: “So, for all the people out there who try out for America’s Got Talent and don’t make it, try out for American Idol.” To which Piers replied, face in hands, “That is so embarrassing!”

That’s too funny. I think of America’s Got Talent as a forum for people who couldn’t get on to American Idol, not the other way around.

SNAP! Nice lol. And I DO NOT AGREE that the Talent show should have singers win. The magicians and dancers and other acts were amazing…actual talent. Sure singing is talent but let’s face it there are too many shows out there for singers and huge number of people can sing or claim to sing, but not many can make a car appear on a stage whilst levitating and spinning plates lol.
Singers go to singing specific shows. Other acts that are more unique ( which is was America’s got talent was originally for..the unique talents out there) should go to Am. Talent.

I agree, C-Dub. They should keep America’s Got Talent for acts other than singers, especially now that they’re going to have X-Factor, which allows older singers (30+) to audition as well. The singing acts who win AGT never go anywhere, anyway. There have been two guy singer/guitarists that won in the past couple of years and I’ve never heard about them since the show.

Don’t they get like a million $ and a personal show in Vegas for a while? But really shouldn’t they be as unique as possible to stand out against the likes of Celine and Wayne Newton and other singers that are already established there. Big deal with they won AGT, that can’t be the only selling factor.
Really x-factor is for 30+yr olds? They coming to Canada lol? I’ll bring my shower on stage cause the acoustics make me feel like I’m Sinatra ha ha.
