New movies in theaters – Hustlers, The Goldfinch and more

The Goldfinch – When a bomb goes off while Theo (Oakes Fegley), 13, and his mother are in a museum, he stuffs a famous painting in his school bag to keep it safe, but loses track of his mother, who was killed. Freaks – A paranoid father (Emile Hirsch) locks his seven-year-old daughter Chloe (Lexy Kolker) in their dilapidated house, warning her of dangers outside. Chloe wants to get outside and makes a break for it one day, where she meets an ice cream vendor (Bruce Dern) who tells her about her mother. Chloe then begins to see her mother around the house and believes she’s still alive. As layers of deception are peeled back, a government agency closes in, putting Chloe and her father in danger. Official Secrets – When British government translator Katharine Gun (Keira Knightley) receives a memo from the United States’ National Security Agency requesting British intelligence to spy on five UN Security Council members in order to get their support for the Iraq war, she decides her loyalty isn’t to either government, but to civilians living in Iraq. Riot Girls – Four years after a mysterious disease wiped out all the adults in the city of Potter’s Bluff, the orphaned kids have split into two battling gangs — the poor kids on the East Side and the wealthy kids on the West Side.
