The Shape of Water, Big Little Lies lead Golden Globe 2018 nominations

The Shape of WaterThe nominations for the 2018 Golden Globes have been announced! Leading the pack with the most nominations for film is Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi/romance The Shape of Water, which is up for seven awards. Dramas The Post and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are close behind with six nominations each.

In television, limited series Big Little Lies made a big impact with six nominations, including nominations for its entire main cast: Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon face off for Best Actress in a Limited Series, while Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley go head-to-head for the Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series award.

Legendary Canadian actor Christopher Plummer is also making headlines after the Golden Globe nominations were released. Plummer has received a Best Actor in a Supporting Role nomination for his role in All the Money in the World, a part he took over from Kevin Spacey who was cut from the film after allegations of sexual assault surfaced.

The 2018 Golden Globes made headlines last month when it was revealed that Jordan Peele’s Get Out was submitted for the Musical or Comedy category. Many sounded off, including the film’s director, about how the film — a horror/thriller — was calling attention to the racism African Americans still face, and that is no laughing matter.

The Golden Globes will air Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. on NBC and the ceremony will be hosted by Seth Meyers. Take a look at the nominees below and let us know who you think should win in the comments.~Hayley Michaud
